Vocational and Entrepreneurship Program (VEP)

The Vocational and Entrepreneurship Program (VEP) under LEEP aims to address the skills gap in Nigeria by providing sector-specific training in industries with high demand for skilled workers. The program focuses on equipping participants with technical expertise in sectors such as Agriculture, Clean Energy, Creative Arts, Construction and the Built Environment (including plumbing, tiling, electrical work, masonry, and interlocking), Hospitality, Home Care, and Facility Maintenance (such as janitorial cleaning, AC maintenance, and refrigerator repair). By offering specialized training in these sectors, VEP helps individuals develop the hands-on skills needed to succeed in their chosen industries, promoting both job readiness and economic growth.

In addition to technical skills, LEEP’s VEP also offers robust entrepreneurship support to empower individuals in underserved communities. The program provides life skills and business training, equipping participants with essential knowledge to start and grow their own businesses. From financial literacy and strategic planning to marketing and customer relations, VEP fosters a strong foundation for entrepreneurship. By nurturing innovation and self-reliance, the program helps aspiring entrepreneurs transform their ideas into successful enterprises, thereby creating economic opportunities, reducing unemployment, and contributing to the overall development of local communities. This holistic approach ensures that individuals are prepared for both employment and entrepreneurship.

LEEP’s VEP training will also adhere to national and international standards through the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), ensuring that the certifications participants receive are widely recognized across industries. This alignment with established standards improves the employability of graduates and makes them more competitive in the labor market, both locally and globally. With these certifications, individuals can enhance their career prospects and gain access to a broader range of job opportunities, ensuring their skills are both valuable and transferable across various sectors.

The Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) is a Renewed Hope Initiative by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, led by Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha. LEEP is designed to create 2.5 million jobs, empower Nigerians with skills, and foster entrepreneurship through innovative programs and strategic partnerships.
